The protesters set fire to the local BJP office and allegedly pelted stones at the police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

    70 to 80 police in clashes and CRPF Workers also injured- Jamwal

    Jamwal dismissed the allegation of Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance, which led the movement, that security forces opened indiscriminate firing. He said that this was done to prevent only self -defense and large -scale violence from provoking. The Director General of Police (DGP) said, 'If you look at the footage and the circumstances in which our security forces worked, they did a very commendable job. After the violence started in the afternoon, I salute them to bring the situation under control by four o'clock in the evening. He said that about 70 to 80 police and CRPF personnel have also been injured in the clash.

    He said, 'Do you want police force personnel to be killed? This is not possible. Everyone has a life. When they attacked the office of a political party and set it on fire, four women constables of Ladakh police were inside. We saved them with great difficulty. CRPF personnel stationed there were beaten up badly and one of them is still admitted to the army hospital due to spinal injury.

    Intelligence information was received to disturb peace- Jamwal

    The DGP said, 'The secretariat was attacked, where most of the offices are located. Do you want the employees to die? You don't want this The purpose of violence was to create anarchy and it was our main task to combat anarchy.

    Jamwal defended the advance deployment of CRPF, saying that intelligence was information that some elements including Wangchuk were trying to disturb peace. He said, 'If the CRPF was not there that day, I am saying with full confidence that the whole city would have been burnt down.' He said, 'We do not want any force here. we want peace. But peace will come only when citizens understand their responsibility. According to the police chief, on Wednesday (September 24), about six thousand people created a furore.

    People of Ladakh have always given police and administration together- Jamwal

    He said, 'I am posted here for the second time. I know the mindset of the people of Ladakh. I believe that the people of Ladakh have always supported the police and administration. Whichever I met, they are all embarrassed by this. No one had expected such violence. Jamwal also informed about the casualties of police force members and said that this year two police constables and an inspector died during duty in three different incidents.

    He said, 'When floods and landslides took place last month, our police worked day and night. Prior to that, in March, 200-300 vehicles were stuck in snowfall at Changla Pass. We spent the whole night to evacuate people safely. Jamwal said that advertisements have been given for 1,800 government jobs, while police recruitment campaign has also been planned. He sought cooperation from the youth in maintaining peace in Ladakh. He said that the passing out parade of about 500 police recruits was to be done on the previous day, but it had to be postponed. He said, 'We are with you and want you to join the police force.'

    Sonam Wangchuk was brought to Jodhpur in Rajasthan by special aircraft after completing all formal processes at Leh Airport.     According to the Leh police, on Wednesday (September 24, 2025), the police registered several FIRs against Sonam Wangchuk on charges of abetting protesters for violence, after which they were arrested on Friday (26 September).

    Sonam Wangchuk started hunger strike on September 10 from 10 September

    On September 10, Sonam Wangchuk started a fast to include the region in Leh city in the sixth schedule, giving state status and demanding the security of sensitive ecosystems of Ladakh region.     Home Ministry took action, Sonam Wangchuk denied allegations

    The Union Ministry of Home Affairs canceled the FCRA registration certificate of Sonam Wangchuk, the founder of Students Educational and Cultural Movement of Ladakh (SECMOL) to violate the FCRA Act.

    Here, Wangchuk, who won the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2018, has denied all the allegations against him. He told reporters on Thursday (25 September) that his non-profit organization had not taken foreign donations, but has made business transactions with the United Nations, Swiss and Italian organizations and paid all taxes. Wangchuk said, 'The central government considered it a foreign donation. I consider it a mistake of them and so I have no objection to it.

    Government claims- external forces in the region encouraged violence

    The police have registered an FIR against some Nepali citizens and those of Doda city of Jammu region who were involved in violence. Now he is hospitalized to treat injuries involved in the action of security forces. When Ladakh was made a union territory in 2019, this decision of the Center was widely welcomed and Sonam Wangchuk was at the forefront of that reception.
